You matter

Hello World!
 Flat out, 100% true for you - You Matter! With all the talk about Black lives matter (and they do), Blue lives matter (and they do), Red Yellow Green Lives matter (and they do).  It's important to remember this............. It is not the color of the person or what type of adornment or uniform they may have on but it is the content of their character.  That makes the difference in an individual’s life AND MORE IMPORTANTLY, the difference they make in the lives of others.
Simply put - You matter by making sure other people do matter.
Muhammad Ali said "Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth." Question:  Are you trying to live rent free?       Are  you?
If the answer to that question is yes, here's how you can change that right now today.
Oh yeah, yes it's going to cost you something.  The good news is you don't need any money. NO MONEY?????   That's right!
But Zoe, how am I going to pay the bill, make payment on this earthly rent?" E Z!
We're going to make some withdrawals from your already existing storehouse and deposit them into the houses(lives) of others.
Appreciation and Acknowledgement are basic human needs.   People want to know they are being seen, heard and are considered important.
Let's cover some basic rules of engagement.
When you have an encounter/exchange with someone give them your focused, time and attention, full eye contact, and withdraw some smiles from that storehouse we mentioned earlier, then deposit these things into the houses of others
 Maya Angelou said, "I've learned that people will forget what you've said, people will forget what you do, but people will never forget how you made them feel."
 CONGRATULATIONS!
You've just crossed to the other side of the street and moved to the head of the class.  You're unstoppable!  It's a SLAM DUNK! You matter by making sure others do matter.

Let there be cake

Hello World!

Often times when I think about having cake it's in celebration of something, typically a birthday celebration.  Let's talk today about constructing a cake to celebrate our re-birthdays.  The difference between a birthday and a re-birthday is this.  A birthday kinda happens upon us in the sense that we can't choose it.  Life happens it upon us.  A re-birthday can be today or any day of our choosing that we decide to happen upon life.

There are 6 key ingredients we'll need for our re-birthday cake.  These ingredients are key because they have both ebb and flow.  Ebb and flow are things we give to others and to ourselves.

1 - PEACE
Slow down, make a conscious effort to operate and flow in tranquility and calm instead of chaos.

2 - JOY
Decide to be happy and glad.  You do this by choosing to see the best in others and your situation/circumstances.

3 - PATIENCE
You know when you have patience, you know when you don't have patience.  For those times when you feel like you don't have it or you're running short, STOP count to 10, then do it again. There is a time and season for everything.  Hold on - it's coming.

4 - LOVE
The type of love referred to here is Agape love.  Love that is unconditional, not contingent upon or bound by circumstances, given freely with no expected return.

5 - KINDNESS
Look for ways to meet the needs of others.  The best acts of kindness are RAK.
RAK means Random Acts of Kindness.  It's thrilling to see someone experience a RAK.  This ingredient is a twofer, this one will also give you more of ingredient #2, Joy

6 - FORGIVENESS
Wikipedia defines forgiveness as: the intentional and voluntary process by which a victim undergoes a change in feelings and attitude regarding an offense, lets go of negative emotions such as vengefulness, with an increased ability to wish the offender well.

I can smell those re-birthday cakes baking in the ovens now.

Ah man!  these cakes ar going to be dabombdotcom!

Follow Your Dreams

Are you dreaming?
I HOPE SO!

Believe those dreams are all possible.  Not only can you do it but you must do it.  Why must you ??????

Here’s why:   Because to not do what you’re dreaming is robbery. 
YES, ROBBERY!  Robbery to yourself and the world.  It’s like holding weapons on yourself and saying, “Stick em up!”  The weapons being Doubt and Unbelief.  You may be asking:  “What if I fail?”
Oh, my dear………. “What if you fly!!!!”  All you need is to have faith in your dreams.  Martin Luther King, Jr. said “Faith is taking the first step without having to see the whole staircase.” 

Repeat after me:  I CAN DO THIS

If you can believe it, you can achieve it.  So today take flight on the wings of your imagination.  Your dreams are like sunshine to your mind.

Got Cheese?

Like a mouse in a maze…….Cheese is defined as whatever you want in life. 

Don’t got cheese?  I know that’s improper English but you know what I mean.  If you don’t have cheese then Who moved it / where did it go?

Basically we’re talking changes that are bound to happen in life and when they occur how to adjust accordingly.  Life is a series of changes.  To expect things to stay the same ALL THE TIME is unrealistic.  Perhaps you’ve heard the expression:  When life hands you lemons – make lemonade. 

So here’s how you can get to squeezing today.  The question is not “Who moved the cheese? But “What are you going to do about it?”  So Ready, Set, Let’s Go!  Now you’re leaving the maze and having an amazing life! 

Don’t rely on assumptions or take things for granted.  Change is inevitable – expect it!  Be flexible in thoughts and actions.  Embrace the change – don’t fear it.  Use it for a learning opportunity.  Don’t count on things to stay the same, count on them to eventually change.  Your security is not in the circumstances but in your attitude toward the circumstances.  Don’t sleep/dwell on the problem – quickly assess the situation and keep it moving.

Stay focused on the goal.  No one can stop you but you.  Get out of your own way.

Life is an adventure – Live It!   By moving into action and taking control instead of playing the victim, this empowers you, energizes you and sparks you on to victory!

CONCLUSION

Here are some action steps to take and ensure cheese in your maze.

• Release the fear. Don’t be so afraid of not finding IT / living IT that you don’t even look.  Again, IT being what you want in life.

To review:

• Be flexible in thoughts and actions.
• Don’t overanalyze, keep it moving
• Don’t look back. You’re not going that way!

True happiness is not living in fear of what could go wrong but living in faith of what can go right!

I'm O.K., You're O.K.

I'm O.K., You're O.K.

Big breath in - Big breath out.

Relax

You're on purpose and everything about you is on purpose.  It's all part of the design.

Story: A young man desired to get his mom a very special present for her birthday - "She has everything", he thought.  "What can I get her?"  He thought long and hard then it came to him.  He remembered once seeing a picture of a blown glass sculpture and marveled at how beautiful it was.  "She doesn't have one of these.  I'll get one to put in her display case with the other beautiful things." 
So, he ordered the sculpture online…..    When the package arrived he couldn't wait to open it.  He was shocked.  "What's this?  What are all these odd little bubbles?  I can't give this messed up sculpture to my mom.  I've got time to get a return."    So he did.
When the new box arrived he was glad to have the mistake corrected.  After opening the box, he almost hit the floor.  It wasn't cleared up at all!  Still more bubbles in the sculpture.  "This will never be good enough.  That's enough with this company.  I'm getting my money back!" 

Still liking the glass blown sculpture idea.....   He decided to take a quick trip to Italy to visit the small town where the glass blower lived.  This way he could inspect the gift first, then personally pick out a piece for his mom.  Now being face to face with the glass blower  the young man told him.....  "Create for me something brand new and unflawed."  The glass blower went to work to create something very special.  Upon completion, he presented the sculpture to the young man.  When the young man saw the sculpture he became livid and screamed "More imperfections!!!!!" 
Jumping up and down, yelling and screaming he told his story about the returns and the trip to Italy.  The glass blower just stood there with a big grin on his face.  Well, this angered the young man even more.
"Relax", said the glass blower, let me explain. 
"Have you ever seen leaves from a tree?  "Of course!", said the young man.  "Well", he continued "Are they all alike or different?"  "They are all different, no two alike.", replied the young man.    Continuing on the blower asked, "Have you ever seen snow flakes?"  "Of course!", said the young man  "Are they all alike or different?"    His reply,  "They are all different, no two alike.  Usually, there is something odd about one or the other making it distinctively unique unlike any other in the world."  "Uh oh!", said the young man.  "Exactly", said the glass blower.  "The glass sculptures are not flawed, leaves are not lawed, snowflakes are not flawed, neither are we as people flawed.  What one may see as imperfections or oddities in themselves or others are put there on purpose by the creator to make each individual very special and unique.  It's all part of the design. 

I'm O.K., You're O.K.

A while ago there used to be a song out with the lyrics:  “What the world needs now is love sweet love.  No not just for some but for everyone.”
Well, wouldn’t that be nice?  It’s a true statement but what is also true is:  “What the world needs now is people with a positive attitude.  No not just for some but for everyone.”

A positive attitude has its focus on Yes rather than No.  Yes I can, Yes we can.  That would be nice.  The question now is – How do we find, build and keep that positive focus?   I have three tips to share with you.

“After my house burned down, I saw the moon more clearly.” – is an old Zen saying.    And just the other day I heard someone say – “I am not mad at the roses that have thorns.  I am thankful for the thorns that have roses.”
This leads me to Tip #1……..  Look for the beauty and enjoy the season that you are in.   You see Tip #1 is not an instant quick fix or wave of a magic wand but more like a retraining/shift of the mind.  And yes, the glass is always half full.

ATTITUDE IS EVEYTHING!

Ever had a moment when you were so excited you wanted o Hi 5 yourself?

Try this exercise – The next time you walk past a mirror give yourself a compliment, then give yourself a Hi 5!  Tip #2……… Encourage yourself!!!!!
Now you’re smiling about you – smiling to you.  More song lyrics:  “When you’re smiling, the whole world smiles with you!”

Tip#3………… Focus inward.  Focus on yourself.  WHAT????????? I know we always hear people say the opposite.  Yeah but there is a reason why focusing on others doesn’t always work.  Frankly, sometimes you don’t even like these others BUT you always love you.  So here’s what you do.  In any given situation, take a moment to step INSIDE yourself to imagine how you’d like to be spoken to or treated, then speak to or treat others in like manner.

CONCLUSION:  A positive attitude is attractive and contagious.  Here’s why finding, building and keeping that positive, Yes rather than No focus, will always be a BIG WIN for you!  You’re doing your part to make the world a nicer place and regardless of the type of responses received you will reap good benefits.  Think of it like a bank account.  Every opportunity you take to make positive deposits builds up your account and I guarantee you at some point you will get a great return!!!!
